The 3 different body types are ectomorph. mesomorph and endomorph. Modern Senotype theory is connected to both genetics, lifestyle and age and throughout life you may find that you tend towards one or the other.
The theory of Senotypes was originally developed by W.H. Sheldon in this study 'Atlas of Men' in the 1940's...and although some of the cultural and personality aspects of the study have been largely debunked the science does back up the physical accuracy of the study.
Are you an Ectomorph?
Ectomorph's typically are long limbed and naturally lean with fast metabolisms. If you find it hard to either gain weight or muscle equally you are probably ectomorphic.
Are you an Endomorph?
An endomorph is the opposite of an ectomorph. Ectomorphs find it easy to gain weight and muscle. So if your body stores fat easily, but find it hard to budge you lean more towards this body type. Endomorphs are solid in their physicality.
The mesomorph body type slots between the extreme types ectomorph and endomorph. If you are in the lucky position of gaining and losing fat equally well you are probably a mesomorph. A mesomorph's figure will tend towards narrow waists compared to your shoulders and hips.
Regardless of where genetics places you on the scale of Senotypes you have the ability to change your body with nutrition and exercise.
The way your body stores fat can tell you what diet and exercise regime will work best for you to get the results that you want. It is commonly believed that each body types are better pre-disposed to different types of exercise. Ectomorph's with their long limbs and lean body fat are well adapted to long distance, stamina and cardio-vascular activities while Endomorphs are well built for strength training while mesomorphs are great athletic all- rounders.
